Lawn Sprinklers - How Often Do You Need To Water?

One of the biggest issues in using lawn sprinklers is also one of the most obvious. How often do you need to water your yard? How do you know, other than seeing the grass turn brown? There are several key factors that go into knowing how often to water your lawn. Here are some quick tips to help you in knowing how often to water.

1. Your Grass

The type of grass your lawn has will be one big factor in knowing how often to turn on the lawn sprinkler. Grasses such as Bermuda or other hot weather grasses will not require as much watering as cool weather grass like bluegrass. Although I must say that this is not always the case with every type of grass. You need to know what type of grass you have and then asses what its watering needs require.

2. Your Ground

The type of soil in your yard is another important point. Sandy soil will require you to water the grass more often than clay soil.

Sand allows water to quickly soak through, whereas clay will hold in the moisture much longer.

3. Sun Or Shade

Does your lawn get plenty of shade from tall trees or does it sit in full sunlight all day? This will certainly determine how frequently you'll need to water.

4. Mowing

How short do you mow your lawn? If you cut your grass short then you will need to water more often.

5. Weather

This is perhaps the biggest factor in determining how often to water your grass. The hotter the weather the more often grass will need watering.

Also, windy and less humid areas will need more frequent watering as well. Of course, if you happen to be in an area which sees a lot of rainfall you won't have to water as often either.

Choosing A Video Game System: Which One Is Best For Kids?

In the old days, choosing a video game system for children wasn't all that hard. After all, parents didn't have to worry about games carried by systems like Atari (there was nothing threatening about Pac-Man or Space Invaders). Today, however, with the proliferation of games with mature content available on games supported by the major system manufacturers, parents want to know which system carries the most kid-friendly games, ones that the young ones will enjoy and one that parents will not regret spending money on.

Let's start with the Sony PlayStation 2, the best-selling game console on the market today. There are literally thousands of titles available for this system, which cater to every age range. There are approximately 600 games for the PS2 that have the "E" rating, meaning that it is suitable for players ages six and above. However, many of these games are too complicated for young children to play. Games that children ten years old and above can enjoy are rated E10+, while those that are rated EC (Early Childhood) are of course, suitable for the very young. The PS2 carries about a dozen E10+ games, including movie-based titles like Shrek Super Slam for PlayStation 2 and Chicken Little. EC titles that little ones can enjoy include Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple planet, Eggo Mania and At the Races Presents Gallop Racer.

Nintendo's GameCube console continues to be popular because it carries titles that are popular with children. The Entertainment software Rating Board (ESRB) lists 263 video game titles rated E for the GameCube, and these include some of the most popular and beloved among the children of today and years past, such as Sega's sonic GEMS Collection, Nintendo's own Mario Party 6 and Mario Tennis. The Legend of Zelda series and several Pokemon titles are available exclusively on the GameCube as well.

Microsoft's xbox and xbox 360 video game consoles likewise have many, many titles that are rated E; the xbox with approximately 270 games and the xbox 360 with so far about a dozen -- but count on the number of xbox 360 titles to increase since it's a new release. Some games published by microsoft exclusively for the xbox and the xbox 360 and which have the E rating are Astropop and Feeding Frenzy. However, remember that most game publishers release crossover titles, or games that are available on multiple platforms. For instance, Eidos Interactive's LEGO Star Wars (rated E) is available for the GameCube, PS2 and xbox; Activision's Madagascar (rated E10+) is available on the same platforms, while Global Star Software's Dora the Explorer (rated EC) is available on the PS2 and xbox, but not on the GameCube.

What about parental control options? Among the four systems, the xbox and the xbox 360 have the most efficient parental lock functions. Parents are able to set limits on the games and films to be played on the systems. If you set the system to play only E-rated games, kids won't be able to play DVD's or games that have Teen, Mature, or Adults only ratings. The GameCube also has a parental lock feature, albeit a less effective one. Users note that all it does is tone down certain effects that might be troubling for children (for example, the amount of blood seen in games) but do not block the playing of games at all. It doesn't even screen or bleep offensive language. The parental control function of the PlayStation 2 is even worse -- it doesn't allow parents or anyone to restrict access to video games at all. The most parents can do is to set the PS2 to prevent their kids from watching DVD movies with inappropriate content.

When it comes to price, the GameCube comes out tops. Available for only $99, it's significantly cheaper than the PlayStation 2 and xbox, whose prices range from $150 to $199 (or more if bundled with game titles). The xbox 360, being the newest of the bunch, is the highest-priced. For $299, you get the system and a wired controller. For $399, you get a wireless controller, a headset that players can use to talk to other people online, a 20 GB hard drive that is loaded with game-related videos and music, and a remote.

Parents should go out and try each system personally as well as look at the different titles available for them before deciding which one to buy. Factors such as number and age of users at home, game title availability, and budget should also be considered. Each system has its own pros and cons, and families will differ in their preferences: some will be content with the limited but popular games of the GameCube; some might prefer the wider offering of the PlayStation 2 or the xbox; others might opt for the high-tech features of the xbox 360. But all things considered, making the right choice will provide hours of wholesome, fun, and worry-free entertainment for the little ones and for their parents as well.

Break the Rules and Live! How to Live The Life You Want Now!

If you are pursuing money as the answer to your dreams you are masking a bad habit of laziness. The reality is this: A man making $ 50,000 a year who works 10 hour per week is wealthier, living in prosperity, when compared to the man who makes $ 500,000 per year and has to push it to the limit on 70 hours per week.

The all elusive dream of retirement and finally being able to do what we want is a myth that has buried many in a local cemetery and left their families with debt from the efforts to live the life when I finally retire still going on.

When faced with the notion of death many times people will ask themselves the fear inducing question that everyday normal healthy people should be asking themselves every morning, What is it that I want to do with my life? And if the only motivator you have for work is to pay your bills and hope to play a little with some of the leftover, quit your job now and just live on the streets- you might have more fun anyways.

Even self-employed business owners are falling prey to the programmed message that to become a millionaire will answer all of your problems and its worth it to just sacrifice your family, your health, and your livelihood for a few years to have dreamy mornings in some chalet in Greece for years to come. Sad reality is many never make it to the chalet and many never even live to fulfill their dreams with their families. The increased house debt, the bigger, faster, cooler car and the increased spending account all in the name of growing the business takes over faster than a bad case of the flu until sick and tired is not a figure of speech. The deepest craving in the heart and mind of many business owners is simply the ability to sleep until they wake up. Some if able to do this might break a Guinness Book record going for days because of their insane push beyond the limits marathons. If security cameras were to give a glimpse of how many executives sleep at the office at least a dozen times per year we might be able to really tap into the reality of the chase the dollar dream.

So what is the answer? Break the rules. March to a different drum. Ignore the lies that say if you dont work at least 60 hours you really arent a successful business owner. Learn to do what you do now in the time. An interesting study revealed that most companies pay their employees for 40 hours of work when in reality only 15 hours of production was being accomplished. So that means that the typical corporation is giving a salary or hourly wage for 25 hours of distraction, confusion and time wasting. Could this in itself be the reason that anti-depressants are on the rise more than ever? Could the reality that we all have A.D.D., we all have more information than we can handle, we have more tasks than hours, we have more month than money, we have more than we can handle in our pursuit of more?

I propose you attempt a simple experiment in the area of your life that you believe would fall apart if you removed yourself. Now maybe your boss wouldnt be overjoyed if you just all of a sudden started showing up only 15 hours per week but what if you made a choice to answer email only 1 time per day. What if you put your cell phone into your dresser drawer ( and turn it off for crying out loud!) and made yourself a promise to not return any messages even, for one week. Imagine if you chose to go to be early every night for the next 7 days, or if you tend to be the kind of person who sleeps their anxiety away made a choice to go to the gym for 7 days for 30 minutes, go to the pool for 5 days, go play golf 3 times this week, do something that you think it totally impossible! If you are really daring and really want to break the rules book a weekend trip with your lover to an exotic island for 3 days, just 3 long glorious no checking email, no cell phone, no interaction with anyone else days. Leave on a Friday red eye late at night and come back on Sunday at the same time. Who cares if you are afraid of being tired on Monday morning- you might shock yourself. All that good weather, good environment, good fun with your mate could give you more energy than you ever dreamed possible and you wont even care if you sleep on Sunday night. Just breaking the rules will make you feel like a criminal and the good part is, its totally legal!

Break the rules and live is created for those who have had enough, wont settle for less and are willing to live differently so that they can live now, rather than later. Be good to yourself- you deserve it! It's this same mindset that put me in the TOTALLY FREE category of 100% debt free in under 3 years! Chase your dreams- and one day, they'll be chasing you!

A Primer on Alternative Power

Thanks to the advent of alternative power, no longer must we rely on depleting the planet of its natural resources, burning fossil fuels that cause pollution of the atmosphere, depletion of the ozone layer, can potentially be unstable (as in nuclear energy), and continues to increase in cost year after year. The main sources of alternative power are the following:

energy producing crops: synthetic biofuels and direct combustion;
wind power and power from waves and tides;
hydroelectric (water) power;
solar power: heat and electricity;
heat power: from man-made and natural waste products and from the making of synthetic bio-fuels;

By definition, an energy resource is renewable if it is replaced at a rate equal to or faster than the rate at which it is consumed. Renewable energy is therefore also considered sustainable energy, since it will continue to be available in unending supply even as its being utilized. Renewable energy has also been given the moniker alternative energy in reference to the alternative it offers to conventional, non-renewable sources.

Renewable energy can be utilized in one of two ways:

directly: as in water mills, windmills, solar ovens, geothermal heating;
indirectly: using the renewable resources to create other sources of power, either as fuels (biodiesel, bioethanol, biogas) or by generating electricity (wind turbines, solar panels).

Before renewable energy replaces the conventional sources of power that were used to (ie. public utility grid power), it will take years of research and development, continually studying, experimenting, improving, and innovating. The study of renewable energy, its applications and repercussions is concerned with environmental, economical, social, and political factors.

The reasons for switching from conventional, non-renewable energy to renewable energy are vast and varied, and the list grows larger every day. Among them are:

it has a small to nil environmental impact with little to no harmful emissions, as a result supporting and protecting our natural ecosystem for future generations to enjoy;
supplementing utility power with renewable power allows you a precious and invaluable backup system in the case of emergencies such as power outages and shortages;
once a renewable energy system is installed, the energy costs a consistent amount to use year-round as opposed to utilities that fluctuate in price throughout the year based on seasonal as well as socio-political factors;
it is distributed energy, or energy that is used in the same location where it is produced this cuts down considerably on transportation and distribution costs;
many local and state governments as well as the federal government offer incentives in the form of tax breaks for the production and use of renewable energies;
if you produce more power using renewable resources than you need for your own personal use, you can actually sell that power back to the utility companies in a program called net metering.

To complete a truly well-rounded discussion on renewable energy, there must be equal time given to its drawbacks as to its benefits. The most prevalent concerns about the long-term viability of renewable energies are that it is extremely dependent on numerous climactic factors and that it is considered diluted energy in that much more is needed to generate much less power. These so-called drawbacks, however, are no reason not to continue a fervent pursuit of incorporating renewable energy usage into more and more parts of our everyday lives. They are only to keep us present to the issues we must address in order to make a widespread switch to renewable energies a viable reality.

Golf Fitness - Use Golf Fitness to Benefit Your Game

Did you ever think when you started playing golf that it could have such a profound impact on your life. Did you ever think that you would be in the gym trying to make yourself better at it? Did you ever put these together and think of how having something to show for it keeps you dedicated? I didn't until just recently, but over the past few years I have discovered that being in shape does make things quite a bit easier on the golf course and have become religious to my routine.

Flexibility, strength, muscle speed, increased cardiovascular functionality; all attributes you will develop when sticking to a proper golf fitness routine.

How will you benefit? It's no secret that the best players on the planet are like Gumby when it comes to flexibility, but under those polos, these guys are completely ripped, and have the muscle speed to go with it. A deadly combination when it comes to distance.

I've played with some guys who play baseball as their primary sport. They claim to be able to hit the ball a mile. Well, let's just say I've been able to win quite a few bucks off of these meat heads. Why? Because most baseball players are power players. They spend all their time in the gym bulking up. They don't seem to understand that being flexible and having muscle speed can generate a lot more clubhead speed that pure brute strength, not to mention make it easier to make solid contact.

My professional advice to these fellas and simply anyone looking to improve their golf game through proper fitness is, if you want to be a long bomber, if you want to be really good, really consistent, and it be effortless, here's what you need to do. Take the weight down, and the reps up. Develop flexibility and muscle speed by using an explosive golf fitness routine. Increase your upper body and hip flexibility, rotator cuff strength, shoulder turning ability, leg strength, core stability.

Hardly any of this requires really heavy weights. It simply requires sticking to high energy explosive routines. You can do most, if not all, at home.

How does all of this help? The more flexible you are, the less restricted your swing is, meaning you have less tension in your muscles, leading to more consistency. The faster your muscles can fire, the more clubhead speed you can generate. The more stable your core, the better your posture will be. The stronger your rotator cuff, the faster you'll be able to pull through with your target side, generating more clubhead speed.

One last example, Sergio Garcia, Sean O'Hair, Jonathan Byrd, all struggled before dedicating themselves to fitness. Now they're in contention week in and week out, busting long drives, hitting deadly straight irons, and being more consistent in general. And as for tiger, well he started the golf fitness revolution. I don't have to tell you what he's done.
